Thinking about going for your Gold Award; the most prestigious award in Girl Scouting? This workshop is a must for any girl who wants to earn her Gold Award or is interested in learning more. While not required, attending a Go for Gold workshop can be the most beneficial thing you can do before beginning to work on the Girl Scout Gold Award. Workshops provide valuable information about the process and suggestions about projects. Open to troops & girls with an adult. View the registration information page. Be part of a great service project that gives back to the Girl Scout community. Help prepare for the busy summer season. There’s always work to do to wake up camp from her winter slumber! There will be tasks for people at all levels, from window washing to path clearing, putting up tents, putting out docks and heavy lifting. Invite your friends and family to join us for this exciting day as camp wakes for the spring. Feel free to come for the whole day, or just a few hours from 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm. If staying for the whole day, please remember to bring a bagged lunch. At the end of the day, we will have a camp fire and celebrate with s’mores. Horses, Horses, Horses
Date:   Saturday, April 26, 2014

            Add’l $15/girl for lesson

Journey into the horse world as you learn all about horse safety, standard etiquette, grooming and leading a horse. You’ll also explore the tack room and learn about the equipment and its care. Look into the future of what jobs are available in the equine world. No need to worry about the weather, we’ll be gathering in an indoor arena!

Horses, Horses, Horses Lesson:
Add a half-hour introductory riding lesson - you will learn how to mount, dismount, walk, turn and stop your horse. Lesson time will vary depending on the number of girls who sign up. Gearing Up!

Like cars? Excited about getting your driver’s license soon? Head to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum to participate in a session led by a Car Girl (and former Girl Scout!) and learn about basic car maintenance and driving safety. Ropes Course Adventure

Place:   Westfield Water Sports & Wilderness Experience, Southwick

Climb into a harness and dare yourself to conquer our high ropes course! Climb to the top of the Giant’s Ladder, scale the human-sized spider’s web or live out your circus fantasies by walking the high wire. Open to troops, girls with an adult & individual girls. Girl Scout Sing-Along

Be part of the GSCWM singing circle! Daisies through adults are welcome. If you play an instrument, feel free to bring it along. You’ll be singing your way home! Our song leader is a friend of Sangam, one of the four Girl Scout World Centers. During a singing break, you will learn about the World Centers. 100% of the money will go back to the World Centers. Please bring cash or check and pay at the door. Open to troops, girls with an adult & individual adults. No need to RSVP. Just come ready to sing! Me & My Guy Day

Join GSCWM for a fun-filled sports day at Camp Laurel Wood. Canoe & Dragon Boat Adventure

Place:   Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club, Springfield

Venture out to the Connecticut River for a day of adventure. Choose to paddle a canoe, a dragon boat or BOTH!  Save money by signing up for both adventures listed below for just $65 per person. Bring a bag lunch to enjoy on the water between sessions. Open to troops and  girls with an adult. Life jackets provided. Program will require signed waiver from participant/guardian. Canoe Adventure

Let experienced guides teach you the basics of canoeing. You will learn how to handle a canoe, safely board your boat, and how to properly paddle through games and activities. Then, it’s time to  take a tour of the Connecticut River and learn about the natural history of the river.

Dragon Boat Adventure
1:00 - 2:30 pm
$40/person
Imagine paddling  a canoe-type stroke with 20 people in one boat - that’s Dragon Boating.  A 2,000-year-old sport, Dragon Boating originated in China, but is now widely practiced around the world. Let experienced coaches bring you out to experience the newest sport in the valley! 

Wild Women Weekend

Cost:   $55/person

For girls and women only! Join GSCWM for a WILD weekend at camp. You’ll enjoy a mix of adventurous activities like boating and trust games, plus get the chance to pamper yourself at our “camp spa.” Come with your troop or bring your mom, aunt, grandmother, or other special adult female and spend the weekend together at camp. Girls and adults may be able to stay in the same cabin together or may be asked to have “girl only” and “adult only” cabins within the same sleeping area, dependent upon enrollment. Kayak & Bike Adventure

Kayak Adventure

Let experienced guides teach you the basics of this wonderful adventure activity. You will learn how to choose a boat that fits your needs as a paddler, appropriate safety gear and accessories to make your experience safe and enjoyable. Then on to the basics! You will learn how to safely board your boat and how to properly paddle through games and activities. Then it’s time for a tour of the Connecticut River, where your guides will share the history of the river. 

Biking Adventure
1:00 - 2:30 pm
$20/person
Starting from Springfield’s North Riverfront Park, trained guides will help you explore the history of the river and biking in Springfield. Bring your own bike or borrow one from the Club. Helmets are a must for 12 and under and expected of everyone else. The Connecticut River Walk and Bikeway includes a 3.7 mile stretch along the Springfield riverfront which provides stunning scenic vistas of the Connecticut River, the Springfield skyline and Memorial Bridge.

Paddle Boarding & Learn to Row

Learn to Row
10:00 - 11:30 am
$30/person
In the Learn to Row program, you’ll learn the basics of sweep rowing in our large team boats. Establish bonds of friendship as you move the rowing shell down the river with others. Expert coaches will teach you the fundamentals of the stroke and introduce you to one of the fastest growing sports. Sign up with friends or meet some new ones as you all learn together!  Program will require signed waiver from participant/guardian.

Paddle Boarding
Noon - 2:00 pm
$40/person
Don’t miss the newest craze in water sports. Stand-up paddle boarding offers a great core workout and a new way to get out onto the water. Experienced staff will teach you about the necessary gear for a wonderful time floating on the Connecticut River, then teach the basic techniques associated with this great new sport. Then, hop onto a paddle board and off you go enjoying a new perspective of the water.

London to Lucerne

Cost:   $4,000/person (approx.)

There are still a few spots left to join GSCWM to travel throughout Europe to exciting cities including London, England; Paris, France; and Lucerne, Switzerland. Sign up and start working with the group right away. The group will work together on money-earning activities; 2013 and 2014 Cookie Credits may be applied.  Additional adult participants will only be accepted with 4 or more girls.  E-mail program@gscwm.org with any questions or to register by December 1.
